About the MC Media Player Project

The MC Media Player project is a collection of free Flash video players originally developed by Dave Owen of MediaCollege.com.

I began making my own Flash video players around 2003 because I needed more functionality than is possible with Flash video components. Since I had gone to the effort of making these players I thought I might as well share them, so I continued to develop them with a view to making them usable and customisable by anyone. The first "MC Media Player" was released early in 2006.

Since then the player has became more popular than I could have imagined, and there are now thousands of sites using it.

In January 2008 the entire project moved to a new domain (mcmediaplayer.com), except for the support forum which is still located at MediaCollege.com.
