MC Media Player

Embedding the Player Using Only HTML Code

Insert the following HTML code into your web page where you want the player to appear:

<div style="width: 720px; margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px;">
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0" width="720" height="360">
<param name="movie" value="mcmp720x360_player.swf">
<param name="quality" value="high">
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true">
<param name="FlashVars" value="">
<embed src="mcmp720x360_player.swf" width="720" height="360" quality="high" allowFullScreen="true" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" FlashVars=""></embed>
</object>
<div style="background-color: #000000; font-size: 10px; text-align: right; margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; padding: 2px 10px 4px 0px;"><a href="http://www.mediacollege.com/flash/media-player" target="_blank" style="color: #cccccc; text-decoration: none;">MC Media Player</a></div></div>

If your files are all in the same folder and you haven't renamed them, you don't need to edit the HTML code so you can skip straight to the playlist instructions. The rest of this page shows how to use variables in the code to change the appearance and behaviour of the player.

Configuring the HTML Code (Setting Player Variables)

The HTML code includes special variables called Flashvars as demonstrated in the example below. Note that the Flashvars (highlighted in red) appear twice — to edit them you need to update both instances.

This example includes two variables called infohead and infotxt, which specify the heading and paragraph text to be used in the player's info screen.

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0" width="720" height="360">
<param name="movie" value="../../flashfiles/player/mcmp720x360_player.swf">
<param name="quality" value="high">
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true">
<param name="FlashVars" value="infohead=Dave's Music Videos&infotxt=This is a collection of my home-made music videos.">
<embed src="../../flashfiles/player/mcmp720x360_player.swf" width="720" height="360" quality="high" allowFullScreen="true" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" FlashVars="infohead=Dave's Music Videos&infotxt=This is a collection of my home-made music videos."></embed>
</object>
<div align="center" style="font-size: 11px;"><a href="http://www.mediacollege.com/flash/media-player" target=_blank">MC Media Player © mediacollege.com</a></div>

Variables are separated with an ampersand (&). To add variables, place an ampersand immediately after the last variable (no space) and enter the new variable, e.g:

"infohead=Dave's Music Videos&infotxt=This is a collection of my home-made music videos.&dfile=intro.flv&bgcolor=ffffff&dlinks=1"

For a full list of available variables see Player Variables.

Note: Limitations of Using Plain HTML (instead of the the JavaScript File)
